| Since the earliest days, the people of the
South Pacific have been great travellers. Air New Zealand
has continued that tradition, pioneering routes that link
our Pacific region to the rest of the world.
Founded in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited, Air New
Zealand is New Zealand's national airline. Air New Zealand
directly serves 46 cities in 15 countries, including 25
destinations within New Zealand. Air New Zealand's international
network is complemented by Air New Zealand National &
Link which offer travellers the most comprehensive and convenient
schedule of services to destinations throughout New Zealand.
Air New Zealand's commitment to delivering a level of service
which embodies the confidence, style and warmth of a young
region, continues to be recognised through many prestigious
awards. Recent awards include "Best Airline based in
Australasia/Pacific" in the 2001 Official Airline Guide
Airline of the Year Awards and "Best Pacific Airline"
in both the 2001 Travel Weekly Annual Globe Awards (UK)
and the TTG Travel Awards 2001 (Singapore).
Also our in-flight dining service has consistently won
awards. Menus have been developed in line with the most
contemporary restaurants by working with teams of domestic
and international consulting chefs. Intense flavours, vibrant
colours, and fresh ingredients are all favourites of New
Zealand cuisine which have enabled Air New Zealand to develop
an outstanding onboard menu experience.
Air New Zealand has recently announced changes to it's
domestic and international airline operations to improve
services to business and leisure travellers. From November
2002, Air New Zealand will increase services between it's
Auckland hub and Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Kansai. Services
will also increase between Air New Zealand's Sydney hub
and Los Angeles. In addition, Air New Zealand will introduce
a new Express class service on it's New Zealand domestic
routes to meet customer demand for lower fares, more choice
of flights and simplified booking processes.
